Lion

Hey Bubs,

Long time not blog. I would say that I have been super busy, but the fact that I have 3 unpublished blogs on my Blogspot and many journals on my phone would refute that. Why am I back? I honestly just want to write again. I just came back from seeing Lion for the third time. It's a shame that it didn't win an Oscar, but I'm glad the story of Saroo Brierley is out there. Millions of children every year are lost on the streets and this particular journey is so pure.

In a way, this transcends to the demographic that I want to help: children. Growing up, I had both parents in my house, I was able to eat every day, and I could go to school every day. I am blessed. Not every child get's even one of these blessings. Living in a developed country, it's easy to take these things for granted. I recall in 2007 when I went to Cote D'Ivoire, there were a lot of kid's whose did not know their alphabet or consistently had the chance to see the doctor. Looking back at that, It really hurts. Kids are the future, and I want them to know that. I don't want poverty to be the reason why someone does not feel like they can not live out their dreams. Honestly, I want the children of the world to realize their potential.

When I grow up, I want to become a physician. The question that I rarely get is why do I want to pursue this career path? I was a sophomore in high school, and I remember my mom picking me up from school, and I wanted to go to Michael's to make a mom for homecoming, which was the next day. She said she wanted to go home. I could feel the anxiety. I knew something was wrong, but I didn't want to be a bother. I went to my room to do my homework, and my mom was in her room, and it was silent. It wasn't until the night time when my dad talked to my aunt I realized my togo youmange was gone.

Why do I want to be a doctor? Every person on this planet has a right to live. NO ONE should die in a hospital waiting room. One thing I can say about Lion is that the perseverance of Saroo was inspiring. Saroo kept on going when the odds were against him, and I plan on doing the same. The ending scene of the movie made me lose it. All the blood, sweat, and tears with a tremendous reward. You see, it never been about the money or acknowledgment, even that there are easier and cheaper ways to do so. I genuinely want people, children especially, that they can do anything that they want in their lifetime. I guess it is time to start practicing what I preach.

All the best,

Peace & Good Vibes
